Hurricane Delta downgraded to Cat 1 storm; expected to restrengthen as it re-enters Gulf

Hurricane Delta weakened into a Category 1 storm with its maximum sustained winds falling to 85 mph as it enters the Gulf of Mexico where it is forecast to reintensify into a major hurricane before making landfall along the United States Gulf Coast, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 5 p.m. update.
